Jessie Mae Dearborn was born on September 13th, 1934 to Harry and Eloise (Douglas) Dearborn. She was the 2nd of their 4 children and was raised on the family farm near Isabel SD.
She attended grade school at the Severns Country School, of which she had fond memories of riding horseback to and from school. Then she attended Isabel High School.
After attending High School, she worked several years for area families in their homes and helping with childcare. She married Roger Young on June 27, 1954. To this marriage, 3 children were born, Dale, Daniel and Wanda. She & Roger opened their home to foster boys James & Michael Orman and Joey Gay in the early 1970's.
Roger & Jessie made their home on the Young homestead West of Isabel where they raised livestock, milked cows and raised grain & cane crops. Jessie was a hard worker and worked both in the house and out in the fields along side Roger. She also raised chickens, sold eggs & cream for many years. She made cakes for weddings and special occasions and enjoyed crafts, especially sewing for her family and friends.
During these years she was an active member of Eastern Star and the UCC Church in Isabel and held many offices in both organizations at the local level. She was also on the State UCC Women's Fellowship board in SD for many years.
In the 1980's Roger & Jessie sold the cattle & milk cows but continued to farm. She then worked at Schaefers Super Value. After Roger's death in 1992, Jessie moved to Spearfish SD to take care of the elderly at Serenity Corner.
She married longtime family friend William (Bob) Dreis on September 25, 1994. They made their home in Vale SD, keeping busy with woodworking and selling craft items at local shows in SD & WY.
After Bob's death in 2008 she stayed in Vale for a while and then moved back to the family farm with Dale in Isabel for a couple of years. In 2012 Jessie moved to Bismarck to be closer to her doctors, grandchildren, and Wanda. She passed on to be with her Savior on September 20, 2013 at the Baptist Nursing Home.
She loved spending time with family & friends and was especially proud of her grandchildren. She spent lots of time at their sporting and school activities. Throughout her life, she enjoyed camping, playing cards and games with her neighbors & family. She met many wonderful people in the different places she lived and treasured the friendships she had made.
She is survived by her son Dale on the Young Homestead, Isabel, daughter Wanda (Jeff) Benson of Bismarck, grandchildren; Skyler, Tristan & Riley Benson, her sister Phyllis (Eugene) Miller of Isabel and numerous nieces and nephews.
