Funeral services for Jesse Alkire, 40, of Mandan, will be at 11:00 am (CT), Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge. Burial will take place at the White Mountain Cemetery (25802 113th St. McLaughlin, SD) under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home. Following the burial a meal with be held at the Mclaughlin City Hall on Main Street in McLaughlin. Jesse passed peacefully away on Sunday, September 14, 2025, in Mandan.
Jesse James Alkire, 40, of Mandan, ND, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025. He was born on September 22, 1984, in Bismarck, North Dakota, to Tina (White Mountain) Leingang and Jerome Keith Alkire.
Jesse grew up on Standing Rock, attending Standing Rock Elementary and Fort Yates Public School before graduating from Standing Rock Community School in 2002. He later pursued higher education at Sitting Bull College.
As a child, Jesse cherished time with his late grandparents, Helen and Basil Alkire, traveling with them to rodeos. Also spending many days at the home of his late grandparents, Carol and Joe White Mountain Sr. He loved being outside, playing with his cousins at the river, and developing a lifelong love for the outdoors. Jesse also enjoyed sports, playing basketball and golf throughout his elementary and high school years.
Throughout his life, Jesse worked hard and was dedicated to providing for his family. His career included positions at the Circle of Nations youth residential facility in Wahpeton, ND, as a security guard at Standing Rock Community School, Roofing with Twin Cities Company and other roofing crews, and as a derrick hand in the oil fields for many years.
Family was the center of Jesse's world. He was a devoted husband to Ashley (Jacobo) Alkire and a proud father to his children: Jaid Alkire, Cadence Alkire, Tila Alkire, and Paxton Alkire. He was also a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
Jesse enjoyed the outdoors and found joy in hunting, fishing, camping, swimming, and grilling. He loved golf and football—especially cheering for his favorite team, the Denver Broncos. One of his favorite times was traveling with Ty (Chelsea) Taken Alive. More than anything, Jesse cherished time spent with his family, supporting his kids in sports, school activities, and life.
He is survived by his wife, Ashley; his children, Jaid, Cadence, Tila, and Paxton; his parents, Tina (Nick) Leingang, Jerome Keith Alkire; his sisters, Nicole Alkire and Paigelyn (Mamie) Morsette; Aunts Sheila White Mountain, Lucy (Lyndon) Fredericks, Fawn White Mountain; Uncles Joe (Hilaree) White Mountain Jr., Ivan (Crystal) White Mountain; Alkire Aunts; Uncle Robert Alkire; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and many other extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply.
He is preceded in death by His Grandparents Helen and Basil Alkire; Carol and Joe White Mountain Sr; Aunt Stacey Alkire; Sister Shelby Baker; Uncle James White Mountain; Cousin Ashley Jo Alkire
Jesse will be remembered for his humor, teasing, infectious laugh, his kindness, his love for the outdoors, and his unwavering love for his wife and children, mother, and sisters. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
