Jess Alison Larrabee-LaPointe (Ohitika Omani Win – Walks Strong Woman) was born on August 16, 1976, and died on December 24, 2024, at the age of 48. Her parents were Rose Ann Hill-Jordan and Jonathan Wayne Larrabee, Sr.
During her lifetime Jess lived in Sioux Falls, SD, Minneapolis, MN and Wakpala, SD where she resided at the time of her death. She obtained her GED in 2007 and attended Sitting Bull College in Fort Yates, ND. Jess was married to Darwin Fast Horse, Sr. Their marriage ended in divorce, and she later married Stanley LaPointe.
Jess was an immense help to her mother and stepfather, Rose and Walter, with cooking, baking, house-cleaning, driving, and working on their vehicles. She also made herself available to help her aunts and uncles whenever asked. We will miss our "Jess Brown" very much.
Activities that Jess enjoyed were swimming, fishing, attending pow-wows, beading, cooking, good at playing Scrabble, and watching rodeos. Her children participated in the Big Foot and Wounded Knee rides with their mother who volunteered to drive, clean camp and any other duty assigned to her on the ride. Her uncle said she was a big asset. Jess was a very respectful woman who cared about people. Because she was a caring person it was easy for Jess to strike up conversations and friendship with people. She often expressed her desire to do better with her life. Jess deeply loved her children and grandchildren.
Jess is survived by her mother and stepfather, Rose and Walter Jordan; children, Angela Hampton, Hiesen Different Horse, Melania Fast Horse, Darwin Fast Horse, Jr., and Matthias Fast Horse. Three grandchildren, Serenity, Oaklynn, and Scott; siblings, Revis Hill, Lori Charging Whirlwind, David Charging Whirlwind, Sullivan Larrabee, Jon Larrabee Jr, Walter (TJ) Jordan, and Patryc Jordan.
Family preceding Jess in death are her father, Jonathan Wayne Larrabee; siblings, Mercy Young Hawk, Faye Ann Larrabee, and Scott Larrabee; maternal grandparents, Faye Tiger-Young Hawk, Fred Hill Sr., and paternal grandparents Sullivan and Sophie Larrabee.
