Funeral services for Jerry Miller, 78 of Trail City, SD will be at 10 AM, Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at the Kesling Funeral Home. Burial will be at Selby Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 4 PM Monday with a prayer service at 7 PM at the funeral home. Jerry passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.
Willard Jerome "Jerry" Miller was born on January 27, 1932 in Mobridge to William "W.C." and Hulda (Bluemke) Miller. He attended school in Selby. He worked many years as a farm hand, coal hauler and also construction. He was an expert on dynamite and water witching. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, visiting on Sundays, reading his outdoor and western magazines and books, listening to Kesling Gospel Hour on Sunday morning and having popcorn on Sunday night with his daughter, Janice. He was a very outdoor person. He believed people should have a simple life which would include food, shelter and friends. His best buddies in the world were always his dogs. If you needed a ride or help Jerry would always be willing to lend a hand. He loved his grandchildren. He moved west river in the mid 1970's and has lived in Trail City since 1992. His indian given name was the "Mighty White Hunter". He married JoAnne Goodhouse in 1973. She passed away July 15, 1975. Jerry married Audrey Hartinger on December 23, 1978. He later married Glenda Eagleman in 1985 and she passed away in December of 1985.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Janice Goodhouse (Bill) Netzer of Trail City, four grandchildren, Dustin Swimmer of Wakpala, Nicole Gipp of Mobridge, Madison Gipp of Ft. Yates and James Netzer of Trail City; two great grandchildren, Breann Gipp of Ft.Yates and McKayla Foolsbear of Mobridge; nephew, Dennis (Carol) Zabel & family of Selby; two nieces, Judy (Jack) Schenk & family of Cheney, WA, and Dianne (Ron) Stroh & family of Selby.
He is preceded in death by his parents, W.C. in 1956 and Hulda in 1974, brother LeRoy at birth in 1933, half brothers, Wilbur Miller, Earl Miller, half sisters, Alma Gisch and Lorine Zabel, grandson, Dillon Gipp in 2010.
Casketbearers will be Bill Netzer, Bill Phillips, Dustin Swimmer, Mark Zabel, Jack Lemburg, Tim Miklos.
