Funeral services for Jerry Brooks age 78 of McLaughlin will be 10:00 AM MST Friday, February 24, 2017 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in McLaughlin. Visitation will be 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, February 23, 2017 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Redeemer Lutheran Church in McLaughlin. At Jerry's request cremation will take place after the funeral services. Jerry passed away Monday, February 20, 2017 at Mobridge Regional Hospital.

Jerry was born October 9, 1938 in Linton, North Dakota to Curtis and Ruth (Stewart) Brooks. Jerry attended Northern State receiving his teaching degree in 1960 and then continued with additional coursework for several years.
Jerry taught for 38 years with most of it being at the McLaughlin School. He coached various sports at the school as well as coaching the American Legion Baseball Team for 20 years. He touched so many students during his lifetime that after 50 years they still addressed him as Mr. Brooks.
After retiring from the school Jerry went to work for Prairie Knights Casino for 17 years as a slot tech and was also a social butterfly when he was working. He worked at Moser's Main Street Market until his passing. Jerry will be missed for his excellent cooking, endless supply of one-liners and, his unconditional love for his children and grandchildren.
Jerry is survived by two sons; Jeff (Rhonda) Brooks of Littleton, CO. Ken (Mollie) Brooks of Scottsdale, AZ, daughter; Torey Brooks, of Phoenix, AZ one brother, Larry (Sharon) Brooks, of Bismarck, ND, 2 grandchildren.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers.
