Funeral service for Jared Mellette age 24 of Wakpala, will be 11:00 AM Monday, December 21, 2020 at Wakpala School Gym. Interment will be in the St. Elizabeth Episcopal Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be Sunday, December 20, 2020 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kesling Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Jared passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.

Jared Laurence was born on March 23, 1996 in Mobridge, SD to Anna (Bird Horse) and the late Jubal Mellette Sr.

He grew up in Wakpala and attended school there as well. He also went to school at the Pierre Indian Learning Center for two years. He came back to Wakpala School where he graduated in 2014.

His hobbies were watching movies, listening to music, and visiting with friends. He made many friends through social media. He worked at Taco Johns with his siblings and also met a lot of people while working. He enjoyed playing Fortnite with his nephews.

He is survived by his mother, Anna Mellette, siblings Kelly (Wilson), Theresa (Alwin), Kyle (April), Ellissa (Joann), Jubal Jr. (Carlys), Kelsey (Ray), Jaren (Becca), many nieces, nephews and cousins, Grandma's, Roberta Yellow, Belva Grey Horn, Kay, Lynette, and Nancy Jones, Grandpa's, Wayne, Wilfred, Guy Jones, Lynus End of Horn, Aunts, Gina, Rose, June Bird Horse, Marilyn DeMarrias, Colleen Iron Thunder, Elizabeth Mellette, Uncles, Reginald Bird Horse Jr., Ben, Chad, Robert, Kevin and Joe Mellette.

Preceded in death by his Dad, Jubal Mellette Sr., Paternal Grandparents Ben and Salina Mellette Sr., Maternal Grandparents Reginald and Gladys Bird Horse Sr.
