Funeral services for Janice Barone, age 76, of Aberdeen and formerly of Mobridge will be at 2 PM CT, Monday, September 16, 2013 at the UCC Church in Mobridge. Visitation will start at 3 PM Sunday at Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge with a prayer service at 7 PM. Janice passed away September 12, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Mobridge after a two week battle with Pancreatic Cancer surrounded by her family.

Janice (Bartels) Barone was born on July 19, 1937 to Abe and Olive Bartels in Mott, ND. Janice grew up in the Haynes and Hettinger, ND, areas. She attended school in Haynes, ND. She married Loren Barone on October 10, 1954 in Hettinger, ND. Loren passed away in 1987. After their marriage they lived in several different South Dakota communities including Lemmon, Faulkton, Miller, Mobridge and McLaughlin. Janice has spent the last 24 years in Aberdeen working various jobs with the most recent being daycare for her special great-niece, Addyson Keller.

To Loren and Janice's union, 8 children were born. Barbara, Richard, Debbie, Bonnie, Susan, Janet, Sandra and Bob. Terry came along in 1972 and was raised by them as well. She loved to cook and bake. She also adored all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving Janice are her children- Barbara (Duke) Sutherland, Cut Bank, MT; Richard (Cara) Barone, Eagan, MN; Debbie Mirth, Sioux Falls, SD; Bonnie (Glen) Valley, Mobridge, SD; Susan (Steve) Dutchuk, Dickenson, ND; Janet (Marlin) Huber, Aberdeen, SD; Sandy (Gigs) Zeller, Mobridge, SD; Bob Barone, Sacramento, CA; Terry (Amy Novara) Barone, Denver, CO. 4 sisters- Joyce Wolff, Eunice Schneider, Karen Clement, and Sherrill Bartels; 4 brothers- Aldon "Skip" Bartels, Frances Bartels, Arlin Bartels, and John Bartels. Sisters-in-law, Stephanie Lee and Betty Mayhew. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving her is a very special niece and her family- Ron, Arlette and Addyson Keller of Aberdeen.

Proceeding her in death are her parents Abe and Olive Bartels, husband- Loren Barone, parents-in-law, Henry and Katherine Barone, sister, Alice Lee. In-laws, Jake Wolff, Bob Clement, Albert Lee, Shirley Bartels, Armeda Bartels, Virgil Barone, and Donna Seivers; son-in-law, Joe Mirth; nephew, Lynn Lee, niece, Rhonda (Bartels) Scott and great granddaughter, Rachel Mirth.
