Memorial service for Janet Koenig, 77, of Gillette, WY will be at 11 AM, Friday September 24, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobridge. Burial will be prior to services at 10:30 AM at Greenwood Cemetery in Mobridge under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be Thursday, from 4-8 at the funeral home with prayer service at 8. Janet passed away Monday, September 20, 2010 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Janet Elaine (Steinlicht) Koenig, age 77 of Gillette Wy died on Monday September 20th, 2010 in Rapid City, SD of natural causes. Janet was born in Lead SD on June 21st 1933 to Martin and Dora (Felt) Steinlicht. She lived around the Black Hills of SD until she was a Sophmore in High School at which time she and her parents moved to Mobridge SD where she completed her education. She attended Northern State College in Aberdeen and graduated with a degree in Elemetary Education. She married Everett Koenig on August 19th 1956. Everett and Janet made their home in Mobridge where they raised their three children. Janet was active in Jaycettes, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and many other organizations through out the years. She enjoyed teaching, substitute teaching, giving calligraphy lessons, doing the artwork and calligraphy for many area high school composits. She also instructed tole painting classes and enjoyed painting with watercolors,oils, and chaulks. for over 40 years, Janet looked forward every month to her night out with the ladies to play Bridge. In 1995, Janet moved to Gillette Wy to be with Everett when he entered the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She spent many hours playing cards, trying out the newest craft ideas,sending emails and talking on Skype with her friends and family. She will be missed more than words can express by so many.
Janet is survived by her son Gregory (Juliane) Koenig of Brandon SD and daughter Jelayne (Marlo) Schlomer of Gillette Wy, 10 grandchildren, Lynnea (Lance) Kleiderlein, Adam (Beth) Koenig, Joshua Schlomer, Lauri Koenig, Amanda (Derrick) McKown, Marlayna Schlomer, Michelle Koenig, Analisa Koenig, Benjamin Koenig, and Michael Koenig. 9 great grandchildren, Zoie, Logan, Xander Bowden, Trace and Ava Kleiderlein, Tayten Schlomer, Alivia McKown, Calliegh and Becca Koenig.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Everett Koenig and son Bradley Koenig.
