Funeral services for Jamie Red Bear, 39, of Ft. Yates, ND, will be at 12 PM, Saturday, October 24, 2020 at the LDS Church in Ft. Yates. Jamie passed away Thursday, October 15, 2020, in Bismarck. Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge is in charge of arrangements.

Jamie Carlin Red Bear age 39 was born on February 20, 1981 in Mobridge, SD to       Kathleen Steele and Carl Red Bear Sr.  Jamie aka "Cube" was from Bullhead, SD but     grew up and made his home in Fort Yates, ND where he attended the Standing Rock   Elementary School and then went on to graduate from the Fort Yates Public School Home of the "Knights" on May 24, 2002. Jamie attended Untied Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, ND and earned his A.A.S degree in Injury Prevention in May of 2006. While attending United Tribes Technical College in the spring of 2003-2004 he was on the Vice Presidents List and was also Student of the Month. In the fall of 2004 to spring 2005 he made it on the presidents List. The strength and patience that Jamie showed is nothing short of admiration. He chose to shine and never give up despite some struggles along the way. Jamie you are the reason the word "phenomenal" exists.
Jamie worked as a paraprofessional for the Standing Rock Elementary School for three years in August, 2008 to November 2011. He had a big heart for children and enjoyed working with the staff and teachers. He also worked at Prairie Knights Casino as a hot buffet cook for three years November 2015 to June 2018. He enjoyed meeting new people and was a hard worker. Jamie also worked for the Standing Rock Food Distribution     Program from April 2019 to July 2019, he was always willing to learn new things and loved to help others. After the program ended he applied back at the Prairie Knights    Casino as a hotline cook in September 2019 up until June 2020.

Jamie Lived with his grandma Helen Alkire and aunt Janet Alkire-Thomas, whom both helped him through his struggles and helped him get back on track. He was very thankful for this. After losing his mother in 2015 he was heartbroken and missed her everyday. He struggled with her loss and took it very hard. Jamie was also very proud of this son, Rylin Carl Red Bear. He loved him with all his heart. He was his pride and joy. He always spoke highly of his son and had high expectations for him. Rylin will always have a guardian angel beside him. Jamie loved spending time with family and friends, meeting new      people, listening to music on his head phones and enjoyed eating his snacks. He was very kind hearted, generous and always had a smile and handshake for everyone he met. He will always be remembered for his gentleness, big heart and compassion.

Jamie is survived by his son, Rylin Carl Red Bear, Sisters: Larissa (Marcus) Steele, Carleen (Anthony) Red Bear, Alisha (Steve) Red Bear. Brothers: Joseph Steele Handy of Minot, ND, Carlos Red Bear, Jordan Red Bear, Sky Red Bear. Nephews and Nieces: Jalen (Kershayna) Steele, Marcus Henry Jr., Kaylee Red Bear, Christina Red Bear, Taylin Rough Surface, Lexi Red Bear, Carly Red Bear, Carlisha Red Bear, Carl Red Bear III, Kyro Red Bear, Serenity Red Bear, Sincere Red Bear, Thomia Red Bear, Tatum Red Bear, Kenyon Red Bear, Sophia Red Bear, Emi Red Bear, Bella Red Bear.

Jamie was preceded in death by his parents: Kathleen Steele and Carl Red Bear Sr., Kenneth Standing Crow-Stepfather. Nephew: Brendan Miller, Aunts: Patricia Steele,   Sandra Steele, Veronica Red Bear, Fern Lutz Red Bear. Uncles: Terrance Steele Sr.,   Robert Steele, Delmer Red Bear Sr., Conrad Red Bear, Ronnie Red Bear, Donnie Red Bear, Ernest Red Bear, Oley Red Bear Sr. Maternal Grandparents: Sampson Steele and Melda Crow Ghost Little Eagle, Paternal Grandparents: Isaak Red Bear and Theresa Red Bear.
