Memorial services for James Jakeway, age 66, of Timber Lake will be 11:00 AM Friday, July 10, 2015, at the Timber Lake Community Center under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. James passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Mobridge Regional Hospital.
James was born March 20, 1949, at Kadoka to John and Betty (Vaughn) Jakeway. James graduated from the Pierre High School.
He married Patricia Johnson on March 1, 1969, at Mobridge, SD, they made their home in Mobridge until her passing 1986.
James married Mary (O'Day) Jacob on Dec. 19, 1986 in Mobridge. James worked construction all of his life, doing many jobs in the Walworth, Corson and Dewey counties. In his early years he did some commercial fishing and later more for enjoyment. James was widely known as a very giving man, he would drop anything to help out a friend or neighbor. He had many hobbies that were dear to him, which included a great love of hobby farming, deer hunting, driving in demolition derbies, as well as auto racing at the Oahe Speedway. He also was known for the homemade sausage which he and his buddies would make.
James survived by Mary Jakeway, his daughters, Elizabeth (Jeff) Greger and Joyce Jakeway and Scott Criste, mother, Betty Jakeway, step-children, Kayleen Winterberg, Melinda Buranen, Jonathan Jacobs, grandchildren, Ron Winterberg, Jessica (Shayne) Lipp, Justin Greger, James Jakeway, Raven & Shawna Winterberg, Spencer & Jacob Buranen, Justin & Tom Jacobs, great-grandchildren, Garrett Lipp, Olivia Lipp, Shawn, Tracy, Wyatt, Raven, Aaleyah, brother Curtis (Beth) Jakeway, sister-in-law, Barbara Jakeway, her children, Leiah & Jared, uncle's, Clark Roosevelt Vaughn, Jeff Vaughn, aunt's, Joy, Pat, Gloria, Sherri and Sharon.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Jakeway, infant daughter, Katheryn Jakeway, father, John Jakeway, brother, Jack Jakeway, uncle, Frank Jakeway.
