I. James Good House Jr. age 69 of rural McLaughlin passed away Saturday, April 18, 2020 at his home.
Private family visitation will be Sunday, April 26, 2020, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kesling Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Black Hills National Cemetery at 2:00 PM MT. Due to the COVID 19 the National
Cemetery is limited to 10 people. Arrangements are pending with Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.
Innocent James Goodhouse "Wiyaka Luta"
Born: December 31, 1950
Died: April 18, 2020
Innocent James Goodhouse was 69 years old at the time of his death. He was born in Wakpala,
SD to the Rev. Innocent and Edna (Foster) Goodhouse. James was an enrolled member of the
Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. He was known to his friends as Jim and Jimmy to his siblings. He
was the fourth oldest of 10 children. His early education was at Saint Elizabeth's Mission
School, Timberlake, SD. He attended Todd County High School from Bishop Hare Home and
graduated High School from Fort Yates, ND. For his secondary education he attend Bismarck
Junior College for Carpentry, Bismarck, ND.
He enlisted first in the United Stated Marine Corp., and second in United States Army and
served two years in the Army Reserve. For the duration of his enlistment he was awarded 60
Bronze stars and Two Purple Hearts.
His hobbies were reading, hunting, fishing, He was a member of the Mensa Society. He held a
third degree blackbelt in Martial Arts. For a short time he was in employed with Standing Rock
BIA and Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.
He is survived by his brother Cedric (Evelyn) Goodhouse, Fort Yates, sisters Johanna
Goodhouse, Fort Yates, Emma (Goodhouse) Doll, Mandan, Carmine Goodhouse, Fort Yates,
Josephine (Ambrose) Woody, Bloomfield, NM. He is survived by many nieces and nephews and
relatives to numerous to mention.
James was proceeded in death by his parents the Rev. Innocent and Edna Goodhouse,
brothers Randolph "Randy" Hutchinson, Kenneth "Kenny" Goodhouse and infant brother, Albert
and one sister Alice (Goodhouse) Walker.
