Jim Brockamp of Mobridge, South Dakota, passed away early in the morning on Saturday July 9th, 2016 surrounded by family at Rapid City Regional Hospital. A memorial service will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Timberlake on Wednesday, July 13th 2016 at 10 AM MDT, with cemetery service immediately to follow, ending at the Timber Lake Community Center for food and fellowship.

Jim Brockamp was born on September 10th, 1942 at Mobridge Hospital to Julius (Butch) and Mary (Crain) Brockamp and was raised in Timber Lake. Jim was an unrelentingly positive and hard-working man, known for responding with "every day is a good day!", when asked about his day, and saying "put a smile on your face and a song in your heart!" during good times and bad.

After graduating from Timber Lake High School in 1960, Jim served in the United States Air Force from 1960-1964 and moved to Seattle, WA, in 1966, where he married his wife of 49 years, Cathy Hardcastle of Mobridge, and raised his three children, Stephany, Jamie, and Alexa. Jim retired from Glacier Northwest after 37 years as an operating engineer. After retirement Jim loved spending time on his land southeast of Timber Lake, enjoying the land and making hay. He traveled back and forth between South Dakota and Washington frequently to spend time with his children and grandchildren. Jim was well-known as one of the most steadfastly helpful and generous men around, who spent his time helping his friends and family with their farm work and other work. Jim will be remembered best by his positivity and work ethic, as the man who raised his children saying "you don't have to go to work; you get to go to work", and that "bored" is a bad word. Jim was the kind of father and grandfather who attended every sporting event, choir concert, graduation ceremony, horse show, and academic event his children and grandchildren participated in—a truly loving and dedicated father, husband, grandfather, son, brother and friend whose love, straightforward mannerisms, and steadfast values touched everyone around him, and instilled themselves in his family and friends.

Jim is survived by his wife, Cathy Brockamp, of Mobridge, three children, Stephany Anderson of Puyallup, WA, Jamie (Denise) Brockamp of Auburn, WA., and Alexa Brockamp of Tacoma, WA., three grandchildren,
Keeley Anderson, Katie Brockamp, and Jared Brockamp of Auburn, WA.
Brother; Walter (Marrianne) Brockamp, of Sioux City, IA.
Sister Julianne Brockamp, PVBM. of Dubuque, IA.
Sister; Carolyn (Tom) O'Meara of Rapid City, SD.
Sister; Collette (Paul) McDermott of Cascade, IA., Brother; Andrew Brockamp, of Rapid City, SD., and Sister; Rita (Bob) Baker of Buffalo Gap, SD.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
