Isabel was born in Fort Yates, on September 19, 1933 the daughter of George A. and Rose Ann (Wilkie) Archambault. Izzy graduated from the 8th grade at St. Bernard Mission School, in Fort Yates and went on to attend Stephan Catholic Boarding School. She became lonesome, so her mother and step-father brought her back home, where she attended Fort Yates High School.
She met the love of her life Elmer Laundreaux and married on October 24, 1953 in Fort Pierre, SD. They made their home in Pierre as Elmer worked at the Pierre Indian School. Elmer then transferred to Wahpeton Indian School and they made their home there until he retired. They moved to her home in Fort Yates and remained there until the time of her death. Izzy was a stay at home mom and homemaker her entire life. She loved to baby sit, all the babies and children loved her as well.
She enjoyed playing BINGO and embroidering many dish towels and pillow cases, Izzy was proud of her work. Her favorite pass time was working on word fines and watching her soaps. She was faithful in her Catholic faith and was a member of the St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fort Yates. She was a happy and cheerful lady, who always put others needs before hers. Christmas was special to her, she would make sure her children and grandchildren had a gift under the tree. Izzy never learned to drive a car and when anyone would offer to teach her, she would bluntly say "No" and then giggle.
