Funeral services for Irvey Schanzenbach age 83 of McLaughlin will be 2:00 PM CT Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the McLaughlin School Gym. Interment will be at a later date under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the Gym. Irvey passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Sanford Medical Center.

Irvey was born April 7, 1933, to Henry and Amelia (Aman) Schanzenbach. He attended McLaughlin High School where he played basketball and football before graduating in 1951.
He married Mary Lou Hempel on February 21, 1953. The family moved to Miles City, MT, where Irvey worked construction until they moved back to McLaughlin. He then worked at the McLaughlin School and drove school bus for many years until he retired.

Irvey was an avid LA Dodgers fan and was thrilled to actually attend a game in LA at the age of 77. He enjoyed his coffee time with his buddies at the Prairie Dog Cafe and also enjoyed going to basketball games at the McLaughlin High School.

Irvey will be deeply missed by his wife of 63 years Mary, daughters; Lou Ann Botsky, Bismarck, Terri (Vern) Leingang, Mandan, Paula Bachmeier, Mandan, Gayle (Bill) Schlosser, St. Anthony, Patti Knapp, Bismarck, numerous grand-children and great-grandchildren, sister Edna Huber, of Sturgis.

Irvey was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Seth and Melvin, daughter, Carol and granddaughter, Annie.

The family would like to thank Golden Living Center for the excellent care that was given to Irvey.

In lieu of flowers memorial has been established to the Alzheimer Association.
