Funeral services Irene Walth age 87 of Mobridge will be 11:00 AM Thursday, July 21, 2016 at United Congregational Church. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be 3:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Kesling Funeral Chapel. Irene passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Mobridge Regional Hospital.
Irene (Perman) Walth was born on July 29, 1928 in Mobridge, SD to Adam and Katherine (Opp) Perman. She was the 10th in a family of 11.
She was educated in the Mobridge School system, graduating from high school in 1946. Irene began working for Montana Dakota Utilities following graduation. She retired from MDU after working there for 41 years.
Irene married Ivan Walth on September 24, 1950. Their 60th wedding anniversary was celebrated by family members in 2010.
Irene was a member of Grace Congregational Church and kept their books for many years. When Grace Congregational Church closed, she became a member of United Congregational Church.
Irene enjoyed decorating her home and yard. Nurturing her flowers, birds and squirrels was a favorite past time.
Irene and Ivan enjoyed camping with family members. With their motor home they traveled to Washington to visit brother and sisters living in Yakima and Wenatches, WA.
The State Fair in Huron would usually be their final camping trip for the year. Traveling with and giving them years of joy and companionship were their "pet pups" Pinky and Nikki.
Keeping with her German heritage, Irene made delicious kuchen, blachinda and dill pickles.
Irene's final years of her life was spent in the Mobridge Golden Living Center. She and her family were very appreciative of the excellent care she received while a resident there.
Grateful for having has a share in her life brother, Jack and four generations of nieces and nephews.
Preceding Irene in death were her husband Ivan, her parents, four sisters, Ella (Roy) Dickerson, Florence (Kap) Aberle, Helen (Bud) Foland and Loren (Al) Schweitzer, and sister-in-law, Clara Perman, brothers, Emil (Alma) Perman, Alvin (Eileen) Perman, Arthur (Eleanor) Perman, Leonard (Mary) Perman, Marvin (Vera) Perman.
Memorials may be directed towards, United Congregational Church, Mobridge Senior Citizens of the Bridges Against Domestic Violence.
