Funeral services for Irene Plush, 99, of McLaughlin will be at 11 AM, Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the UCC Church in Mobridge. Burial will be in the McLaughlin UCC Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be at 6 PM Friday at Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge with a prayer service at 7 PM. Irene passed away Monday, August 14, 2023, at the Eureka Healthcare Center in Eureka.

Irene Plush was born on August 18, 1923, in Campbell County, SD, to Fred and Christina (Bauer) Metzger. During her childhood her family moved west river 10 miles NW of McLaughlin. She attended Cadillac County School. Following her schooling she worked in Bismarck as a nurse.

On October 22, 1944, Irene married Ralph Plush in McLaughlin. In 1946 they bought the Chris Schutz farm that was located west of McLaughlin, and she has since resided. She helped Ralph on the farm, milking cows, selling cream and eggs, and raising her family. She loved being outside and sitting and watching the wildlife.

Irene is survived by her four sons, Gary (Tracy) of Mobridge, Dennis (Linda) of Riverton, WY, Rodney (Nancy) of Gillette, WY, and Bill (Becky) on the family farm near McLaughlin, one daughter, Joyce (Jim) Pieters of Richmond Hills, GA, sister, Alice (Dick) Middaugh of Whidbey Island, WA, 15 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 17 and great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ralph in 2001, grandson, Edmund Plush, brother, Irvin, sisters, Hertha, and Agnes.
