Funeral services for Irene Ducheneaux Hagen 78 of Wakpala and Mobridge, SD will be at 11 AM, Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Wakpala Community Center. Burial will be at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. A prayer service will be at 7 PM at the Community Center in Wakpala. Irene passed away October 21, 2017 at the Firesteel Health Care Center in Mitchell, SD.

Irene Catherine Hagen, was born September 15, 1939, near the Moreau River, to Joe and Rebecca (Hates Him) Ducheneaux. She grew up on the Cheyenne River Reservation and graduated from the Old Agency Boarding School. After graduation she attended Haskell Indian Nations University for a few years.

Irene gave birth to her only child, Redina Marie, in May of 1960. She made their home in Mobridge, SD. Working in the food service industry around town. She then met and wed Charles Hagen in the early 80's. They then moved to the Dupree area. After his passing in 1991, she moved back to Mobridge and became a foster mother for many years. Irene continued to live in the Mobridge area until her passing.

Irene is survived by her daughter Redina (Tony) Eagle, her grandchildren: Jason (Cara) Eagle, Trish Eagle, Tony Eagle Jr., and Derrek Eagle, her great-grandchildren: Chance Coffee-Eagle, Allyssa Big Eagle, Rayla and D'Laina Eagle, and one brother Steve (Norma) Ducheneaux.

She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Rebecca Ducheneaux, brothers Joe and Owen, sisters Delma, Angeline, Celeste, Bernadine, Karen, Cynthia, and great-granddaughter Destanee Coffee-Eagle
