Ina Mae Plante was born on May 29, 1964, in Fort Yates, ND to Kenneth Plante and Susan Buckley.
Ina grew up in Cannon Ball, ND and moved to Fort Yates, ND where she graduated in May of 1982 from Standing Rock High School. She attended Haskell Indian University for a brief time in 1983-1984 and returned to ND to attend Sitting Bull College. She attended college on and off throughout her life. Ina was employed at the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe as payroll clerk in the Finance Department for 13 years. After leaving her position there she worked in other various locations throughout the tribe. She would sometimes volunteer to cook for the district meetings held at the AJ Agard Building. She always loved to help and would go where her help was needed. You could always count on her to be there.
Ina had many titles in her family. She was one of the best cooks, she could make a delicious meal from scratch. She would use whatever she had in her kitchen to make it possible. If she didn't have anything to give, she would feed you a meal in her home. Ina didn't only cook for her children but for all the people that lived around her. She was a selfless, generous woman to come across. She had a passion for cooking or firing up her grill to have a cookout. Her model was that she wanted to help everyone that crossed her path, and she did just that. She also enjoyed sitting down with her family and friends to just visit and laugh about whatever came to mind. She always loved reminiscing about everything. She loved travelling to Texas to be with her family or would travel to Arizona to be with her oldest daughter.
Besides cooking and helping everyone if you really knew Ina, you would know that the greatest creation in her life was her three daughters, Chera, Sheyenne and Jennifer. Ina was so proud of her girls for everything they have accomplished. She never bragged but she was very happy to be their mother. The greatest joy in her life was her grandchildren, Richard (Chunks), Talon, Xavier, Taniyah (Fats), August (Auggy), Taylah (Chubs) and baby Dariyus & Taysin. There is nothing more she loved in her life than the love she had for her daughters and their children.
Ina was the most loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunty to her family. She was one of the greatest friends to have.
Ina is survived by her three daughters: Chera Plante, Jennifer (Chet) Fischer, Sheyenne Ell; adopted daughter Amanda Fool Bear; sisters Beverly Stretches, LuAnn (Tuwan) Ksor, Sharin Carr, adopted sister Kayla Young Bear; nephews, Buster Martin, Justin (Arlene) Stretches, Shawn (Shelley) Stretches, Leoncio Bald Eagle, Sheldon Martin; nieces, Rochelle & Jaimee Stretches, Kaylani & Consuella Bald Eagle, Sherry Martin, Kathleen Cutler, Sheree (Tweety) Martin, special niece Carrie Long Cloud. aunt Toni Plante. and her 29 Grandchildren.
