Funeral services for Ida Schutz, 93, of Mobridge will be at 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobridge. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 5 PM Friday with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at the church. Ida passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.
Ida Schutz was born on July 17, 1922, on her family farm near Glad Valley, SD to Johanna and Katherina (Klooz) Janz. She graduated from Isabel High School in 1940. Ida and August Schutz were united in marriage on February 4, 1942, and to this union three children were born Larry, Sandra and Mark. Following their marriage, they made their home in Isabel where Ida raised her family. In 1958 they moved to Mobridge where Ida worked at the Mobridge Hospital. She worked in surgery for the next 33 years before retiring in 1990.
Ida remained active in the Trinity Lutheran Church Women, quilting, and the Moose. She thoroughly enjoyed playing bridge, making a lot of lifetime friends doing so. She also enjoyed baking and was known for her caramel rolls and brownies. Her greatest joy and memories were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ida is survived by her children, Sandy (Rod) Moser of Mobridge and Mark (Linda) Schutz of Marion, IA, 6 grandchildren, Robert (Lynn) Schutz, Michael Schutz, Chad (Jazz) Moser, Tate (Cindy) Moser, Bryan Schutz, and Brandon Schutz, 10 great grandchildren, Dakota Schutz, Madison Schutz, Rachel Moser, Joshua Moser, Kaylee Moser, Kassie Moser, Kamryn Moser, Kaden Moser, Rylie Schutz, and Parker Schutz, and one sister, Bertha Stockham of Battle Creek, MI.
She is preceded in death by her husband, August, son, Larry, grandchild, Terry, five sisters, Emma, Alvina, Minnie, Martha and Pauline.
