Henry Alan Eagleman was born on November 18, 1950 to Joseph A. Eagleman, Sr. and Helmina M. LeBeau Traversie at the Old Agency, South Dakota. He spent his grade school years at the Saint Joseph Indian School in Chamberlain, South Dakota and then later attending his freshman year at C-EB High School. After spending a year at CEB-High School, he then transferred to the Flandreau Indian School where he spent the remainder of his high school years. Where meeting new people and having a strong involvement in school activities was in his best interest, with cross country being the main choice of sport. Alan then went on to graduate May of 1969. It was unknown of what he wanted to do after graduating high school, so he chose to venture out and see what the world wanted to show him. During this time he traveled all over until he made the choice to carry on the family tradition by enlisting in to the United States Army in 1971. Upon the completion of his training, Alan was assigned to an Artillery unit where he remained until he served his term of service and received an honorable discharge in 1973. After his military service, he then returned home for a brief period and then moved to Aberdeen, where he would start college and then soon after would transfer to Mankato, Minnesota. March of 1980 Alan became a proud father to his only son, Dominic, who he devoted his life to. Watching Dominic excel in his school activities was his life. Alan worked 29 years of devoted and dedicated service to the students and staff C-EB System until he finally made the decision to retire in December of 2011. After retirement Alan enjoyed his quiet life on Meadowlark Hill, doing what he can do to find something to do to keep busy. Alan enjoyed spending time and visiting with family and friends, one of his biggest pleasures of enjoyments he had was settling down enough in all of his free time he had to spend time with his Granddaughter's Hailee and Adrianna. Both of who thought the world of their grandpa. In his time with his with his family Alan took upon himself to become and be a father figure to his niece Mona and her children Ann'D Mae, Jake, and KC. Of which he would be there in support and would continue to show support in all of their endeavors and accomplishments. It was always Grandpa Alan or Uncle Alan, the names that would echo throughout his ears during his days with his family and friends. Alan was a very generous, a very caring, a very lovable, a very gracious, and a very humble gentleman. If you only met him or talked with him one time, you would never forget who Alan was. Alan's smile was felt and strong enough to be that one spark to light up an entire room. Alan will not be forgotten, the memories will be what we have to remember and pass on that a single smile can go a long way and do a lot of any and everyone who ever had the privilege on knowing Alan.
