Funeral services for Henrietta Marvin age 73 of Fort Yates, ND will be 10:00 AM Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Kesling Funeral Home. Interment will in the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Henrietta passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND.
Henrietta Harrison was born on November 12, 1944 at Fort Yates, ND to Henry and Elizabeth (Stellflug) Harrison. She was one of 14 children. Her early years were spent in Fort Yates where she attended St. Bernard Mission School first thru eighth grade. She attended Fort Yates High School her freshman year. Henrietta attended and graduated from Marty Mission School at Marty, SD.
Henrietta was 1 of 27 graduates of the Pierre School of Practical Nursing. After receiving her LPN Degree she accepted employment on the Pediatric Ward at St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre, SD. While in Pierre she met and married Carl Marvin. They moved to Cheyenne, WY, where she worked for the Parks Dept. planting flowers in all the city parks.
Etta then moved to Seattle, WA where she cared for plants in business places and high end homes. She then moved to Rapid City, SD for a short time, from there she moved to Ft. Yates, ND to be a caregiver for a brother while also helping him run the ranch. She loved being with family, especially her grandson Nate, he was the apple of her eye.
She also loved to crochet, which she learned at an early age. Etta made the most beautiful doilies, table clothes, and crocheted afghans. She also taught herself how to knit and made many multi patterned sweaters, and many afghans which she gave as gifts.
Henrietta leaves behind her daughter; Jo Ann (Brian) Asbury, grandson; Nate Asbury, her sister; Beata (Denny) Crotty, and brothers; Henry (Annie) Harrison and Ben (Luella) Harrison.
Henrietta was preceded in death by; her parents Henry and Elizabeth Harrison, 7 brothers; Jim, Charles, David, John, Bill, Leroy, Joe and 3 sisters; Mary Poitra, Alice (Snooks) Underberg, Emma Harrison.
She was a very talented person and will be greatly missed.
