Obituary

Funeral services for Henrietta Hettich, age 94, of McLaughlin will be at 10 AM MT, Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011 at the UCC in McLaughlin. Burial will be in the UCC Cemetery in McLaughlin under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will begin at 5 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM Friday at the church. Henrietta passed away Monday, September 26, 2011 at the Selby Good Samaritan Center where she had been a resident for two years.

Henrietta (Wolfer) Hettich was born July 28, 1917 in Winona, ND to John & Minnie (Reich) Wolfer. When Henrietta was 1 year old the family moved to McLaughlin, SD. Henrietta helped her Dad at the grocery store and waiting tables at the local cafes.

On November 4, 1937 Henrietta married Rudolph Hettich. They made their home on a farm southeast of Selfridge, ND. They worked side by side, very hard to acquire a very successful farming and ranching operation. They had two children Charlotte was born on June 11, 1938 and passed away on November 8, 1938 and Ronald was born October 11, 1939. Henrietta's nick name was Heiny, she was very active in the church and was secretary and treasurer of the Goose Camp School District. Heiny's husband Rudy was killed in an airplane accident in April of 1965. She and her son, Ronald continued to farm and ranch until they sold the farm in the spring of 1970, and then moved into McLaughlin. Heiny continued to be very active in the church and the Ladies Aid Group. She organized and directed the Senior Citizens Kitchen Band, they performed in parades and other events.

Heiny enjoyed playing piano, working in her yard and in her home. She also enjoyed time and meals with Ron and Irma and her grandchildren.

Heiny is survived by her son Ronald and wife Irma, grandchildren; Rick Hettich of McLaughlin, Rhonda (Jeff) Brooks of Littleton CO., Rachell (Travis) Kelsch of McLaughlin, 6 great grandchildren, Logan & Lexus Kelsch, Patrick, Wyatt, Lakesha,
and Ricky Hettich Jr., 2 sisters; Helen Gourley of Cle Elum, Washington, and Esther Braun of New Underwood, SD.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rudolph, her mother and father, Minnie and John Wolfer, one daughter, Charlotte, four sisters; Ida Moser, Lucy Slater, Dorothy Jorgenson, Thelma Shingler, 2 brothers, Emmons Wolfer and Oscar Wolfer.
