Memorial services for Helen Bieber age 86 of Mobridge formerly of McLaughlin will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the United Congregational Church in Mobridge. Inurnment will be in the Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery in McLaughlin under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home. Helen passed away Monday, April 1, 2015 at Mobridge Regional Hospital.
Helen Bieber, daughter of Jacob and Johanna (Wald) Huft. She was born September 24, 1928 on a farm north of Bowdle, SD. She grew up on a farm with five brothers and three sisters. She attended rural school. Helen was baptized, confirmed and married at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bowdle.
Her parents moved into Bowdle when she was approximately 16 at which time Helen and two of her brothers remained on the farm.
Helen was married to Albert Bieber on October 12, 1947. They lived in various places until 1955 when they moved to McLaughlin. In 1971, Albert and Helen finished building a home a couple miles southeast of McLaughlin. Albert passed away in 1991, but Helen remained there until 1994 when she sold the farm to Rod and Marcie Bieber.
Helen moved into a low income rental in McLaughlin and lived there until 2010. She moved to the River Ridge Apts. in Mobridge and lived there until her death. Helen was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and Redeemer Ladies Aide.
Helen is survived by her daughters, Betty (George) Hertel of Bismarck, ND, Cindy (Terry) Hoffman of Lemmon, SD, three sons, Kenneth (Patricia Grose) Bieber, of Byers, CO., Rod (Marcie Schmeichel) Bieber, of Mobridge, SD., Randy (Sandra Friez) Bieber, of Bismarck, ND., 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert, brothers Jake, Adam, Philip, Dave and Henry, 3 sisters, Mary Sandmeier, Tillie Eisenbeiz and Josephine Schmidtgall.
Helen will also be remembered for her potato salad and Knoephla soup.
