Obituary

Graveside services for Harold M. Locken, 83, of Isabel, SD, will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 27, 2015, at Hillview Cemetery of Isabel under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge, SD. Military honors will be provided by the Isabel American Legion Honor Guard. Harold passed away February 23, 2015, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital of Mobridge.

Harold was born in Lemmon, SD, on October 1, 1931, to Magnus and Eva (Hetzel) Locken. For four years he lived north of Gopher on the Grand River. Except for two years in Rawlins, Wyoming, he lived in Isabel. He attended Isabel Grade School and High School. After High School he enlisted in the Army and served in the Korean War. In 1960 he started a bulk gasoline and fuel delivery business, Locken Oil Co. In August of that year he bought the gas station from Clifford Burke and later added the propane business in 1967. Harold also ranched north of Isabel on the Locken homestead where his grandfather, O.H. Locken settled in 1912. He was proud to be the third generation on the ranch, followed by his son Steve, and grandson Joe.

He married Dawn Hazel Seipman in 1956, to this union three children were born, Steve, Sheree and Jacalyn. He married Alice Opp Lutz in 1978.

Harold was proud to call Isabel home and was active in its organizations. He served as Mayor of Isabel from 1964 to 1970. He was a member of the Isabel Rodeo Association since it began and served as President as well as other offices. He was a commander of the American Legion, was a member of the Development Corporation, Fire Department, Isabel Co-Operative, Isabel School Parent Teachers, and Hillview Cemetery Association.

Harold is survived by his son, Steve (Pam) Locken of Isabel, SD; his daughters, Sheree Locken (Barry Holm) of Bismarck, ND, and Jacalyn (Jerry) Davis of Gillette, WY; his grandchildren, Joe Locken, Cara Lei, Christopher and Kristi Hall, and Brice and Paul Davis; 13 great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Ruby Locken; his brother-in-law, Jack Petrini; and special friend, Alice Opp Lutz.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; Dawn Locken; his brother, Earl Duane Locken; his sister, Murelenne Petrini; and his granddaughter, Marcie Locken.
