Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Harold passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck.

The first eleven years of his education was obtained through the Firesteel School. He graduated from Timber Lake High School in 1938. High school graduation was not common at the time due to economic and agriculturally depressed conditions.
Harold married Rosella Mae Smith on April 26, 1943 at the Methodist Church in Timber Lake. The couple leased and eventually purchased the family farm from Harold's parents and spent the next 32 years in production agriculture. The couple was blessed with five children; Robert Dean (1947) Thomas James (1949) Peggy Ann (1952) Harold Leroy "Corky" (1955) and Jeffery Jon (1957).

Harold had two loves, farming and baseball. He was considered to be one of the area's outstanding pitchers, participating in several state amateur baseball tournaments being "picked up" by qualifying teams if the Firesteel Independents did not advance. He was inducted into the south Dakota Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997.

After sustaining an injury in a farm accident in the fall of 1974, he was advised by doctors to leave agriculture. Harold and Rosella moved to Mobridge and purchased the Wrangler Inn. The business soon grew into a multi complex that included the Potpourri Drive Inn, The Wheel family Restaurant, Windjammer Lounge and Supper Club.

He is survived by his four children, three grandsons, eight granddaughters, two great grandsons, and eight great granddaughters, one brother (James) and two sisters Carolyn and Evelyn.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Samantha Ann (1986), son Tom (1992) and wife Rosella (1993).
