Harold Bockman, age 83, of Mobridge passed away December 29, 2011 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.

Harold Wayne Bockman was born June 29, 1928, in his childhood home in rural Ziebach County to Ed and Marie (Schroeder) Bockman. Harold grew up on his parents ranch and attended Country school. In 1946 Harold enlisted in the United States Marines and was honorably discharged in 1948. He married Carol Bieber in 1956, and they took over the family ranch 4 miles east and ten miles north of Faith, SD. His passions included training horses and cattle-working dogs, often developing bonds with them that were uniquely loyal to each other. Harold also enjoyed woodworking, fishing and enjoyed raising ostriches. Harold was supportive to his wife, children and grandchildren. In all things in life, Harold took his guidance from God's Holy Word. His desire was that in all that he did, he did to the Glory of God.

Harold is survived by his wife Carol, who remains in their home, Daughters Wanda Kontur (Frank) from Hermiston OR, Jeanne Sulzle (Mark) from York NE and son John (Marla) of Leavenworth KS, along with 12 grandchildren and 14 great grand children. Two of his grandsons are currently serving their country overseas, Michael and Jesse Bockman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Donald and Alvin, his sister Lois and one daughter Lisa Lou.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to
either Great Plains Lutheran High School in Watertown, SD or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

He was a quiet man but quite a man!!!
