Funeral service for Harlan Klein age 67 of Herreid will be 10:30 AM Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Herreid Assembly of God Church. With Rev. Don Hill officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Harlan passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018 at his home in Herreid.

Harlan Harvey Klein, 67 passed away on July 26, 2018 at his home in Herreid after being afflicted with muscular dystrophy for 55 years.

Harlan was born on March 26, 1951 in Herreid to Harold and Alvina Klein.  He was the sixth of seven children.  He attended Herreid High School. After high school, he worked at various jobs - ITT-General Controls in Glendale, California, Salvation Army in Los Angeles, California, and a gas station in Long Beach, California.  Harlan came back home to work at the Klein Hardware Store and Ponderosa owned by his two brothers. Harlan was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, attending auction sales, and listening to music from Christian, Jazz and Rock and Roll.

Harlan is survived by his brothers Lyle of Sioux Center, Iowa, Roland (Cecilia) of Sioux Falls, SD, Larry (Rheta) of Lake Isabella, California and sisters Donna (Elmer) Schick of Herreid and Sharon (Donald) Clinton of Larkspur, Colorado.

He is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Alvina Klein, brother Gordon Klein, nephew James Schick and Grandparents Klein and Eberhart.
