Obituary

Funeral services for Gordon White Bull, age 58, of Ft. Yates will be at 11 AM on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at the Catholic Church of Assumption in Kenel. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 5 PM, Monday with services at 7 PM at the church. Gordon passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 at the IHS Hospital in Ft. Yates.

Gordon Blaine White Bull was born in Fort Yates, ND. and grew up along the Mnisose (Missouri River) with his father, Cecil White Bull Sr., his mother, Gloria Walking Elk, his siblings-Cecil, Mark, Shirley, Aurelia "Babydoll", and Gabriel, and cousins his parents took in. They lived around the Standing Rock area, his father was a cop, his mother a CHR.

He was a bull rider at a very young age having his first experience by accidently falling on to a cow, getting bucked off. He won many buckles. He was also a very talented artist using many mediums. He was knowledgeable in making regalia-wapesa, warbonnets, you name it. He was also the only one out of his siblings to learn the Lakota language which he lovingly shared with his granddaughter Lordes. Gordon was also an extra in a few films, most notably "Lakota Woman" and "Crazy Horse".

Gordon will be remembered for his strength, his courageous heart, his handsome smile, his love for his family,friends, and his heritage.

Gordon is survived by his sons-Gordon jr., and Josh, his daughters-Autumn, and Tashina, numerous nephews, nieces, and grandchildren.
