Glenna Francis Dougall was born at Havelock, NE, to Glen and Marietta (Daniels) Dougall on April 11, 1924. When she was five years old, the family moved to Isabel, SD. She attended country schools with her sisters and graduated from Isabel High School in 1942. She then taught country school for two years. On June 10, 1944 she joined the United States Navy as a Wave. She served for two years as a hospital Corpsman. She was extremely proud of her service to country the rest of her life. As a veteran she was a dedicated member of the American Legion Auxiliary, holding several positions, including chaplain, until her death.
In 1951, Glenna graduated from Northern State Teachers College, now NSU, with a two year teaching certificate and began her teaching career.
In 1952, she was united in marriage to Askarl Reich in Aberdeen. They lived in the Isabel area until his death in 1993. In 2008, she moved to Oakes, ND, where she has resided until her death.
Glenna and Askarl raised a family of three sons of which she always was very proud.
Glenna taught country school and in the Isabel School for 12 years, retiring in 1976. Then she began a second career of day care. She never really stopped teaching as she touched the lives of many children, instilling in them a love of reading and learning.
Her memory for names, birthdays, and anniversaries was phenomenal. When you needed to know about a date you asked Glenna.
Left to mourn her passing are her three sons, Joe (Brenda) Reich of Oakes, ND, Curtiss of Onida, SD, and Craig of Mountain Home, ID; three grandchildren, Alecia (Travis) Berndt of Lidgerwood, ND, Bart (Brittany) Reich of Sartell, MN, and Mallory Reich of Fargo, ND; sister, Wilma Lindskov of Isabel; brother-in-law, Arnold Heck of Casselton, ND; and many nieces and nephews and many good friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; sisters, Lila Ruliffson, Beth Dougall, Ruth Heck, and Delores Lindskov; three brothers-in-law, Lloyd Ruliffson, Bill Lindskov and Art Lindskov; and identical infant sons, Bradley Craig and Barton Keith who died at birth.
