Obituary

Funeral services for Glenn W. Torevell, 83, of Timber Lake will be at 10 AM, MT Friday, September 2, 2011 at United Parish Church in Timber Lake. Burial will be in the Timber Lake Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM, MT Thursday with a prayer service at 7 PM at the church. Mr. Glenn passed away August 29, 2011 at Fort Meade Veterans Hospital at Fort Meade.

Glenn Wesley Torevell was born October 26, 1927 to George William and Cynthia Leone (Butler) Torevell on the Old Wright Farm, northwest of Timber Lake. Dr. Baer and Grandmother Butler were the attendants. Glenn was the second of four children; there was Katherine, Glenn, Leon, and Lillian.

Glenn's early childhood was spent on the Pete Shekhan Farm and attended the Scherer School with Ma Perkins, Mrs. Quede, Bertha Larson, and Dorothy Pillar as teachers. He attended one year of high school in Timber Lake and then he helped on the farm/ranch 20 miles north of Timber Lake in the Miscal area. In 1946 he enlisted in the U. S. Army and spent 18 months serving our country.

On March 22, 1953 he married May Hattie Richter. They lived in Lead, SD for a short time before moving back to work with his parents on the ranch. During this time they had two daughters Patsy Ann and Nancy June. In 1983 they moved into Timber Lake. Glenn worked at the cheese plant until his retirement. After his retirement he spent his time helping out the Timber Lake Community.

Glenn is survived by his wife May of Mobridge, daughters; Patsy (Jon B.) Bender of Mobridge, Nancy Hoveland of Olalla, WA, four grandchildren, Stacey, Eric, Mellissa, Lisa, four great-granddaughters, Rebekah, Alexandria, Teagon, Tyleigh, sister Lillian Torvelle of Mobridge, nieces and nephews, Sherry, Faye, Jack, Charlie and Jeff.

He was preceded by his parents, George and Cynthia, sister Katherine, brother Leon, nephew Clay.
