Gladys Marie Friesz was born August 5, 1939, in Mandan, North Dakota and was the first born to Anton J. and Mathilda (Zander) Leingang of St. Anthony, North Dakota. Gladys grew up on the family farm and attended St. Anthony Catholic School until the eighth grade because she was needed to work on the family farm. Her siblings were Jeannette, Judy, Jolene, and LeRoy.

Gladys married her only love, Warren Friesz, on May 25, 1959, in St. Anthony, North Dakota, and made their home in Flasher, North Dakota. Shortly after their marriage, God blessed them with three children; Cinthia (March 4, 1960), Warren Jr. (October 1, 1961), and Harlan (December 30, 1962). In 1967, the family moved to a farm north of McLaughlin, South Dakota, and later moved in to McLaughlin. In 1997, Warren and Gladys moved to Mobridge, South Dakota.

In Gladys' lifetime, she was a hard worker. Gladys worked various jobs, but she greatly enjoyed serving school lunch to the precious children in the McLaughlin and Mobridge schools. Through these jobs, Gladys touched the lives of the people she encountered and always gave advice, hugs, and encouragement.

When Gladys found free time, she enjoyed cooking, baking, quilting, sewing, gardening, planting flowers, and attending her grandchildren's activities.

Gladys was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Mobridge. She was also a member of the Altar Society and Light Of The World Prayer Group.

Gladys will be deeply missed by her husband of 55 years, Warren Friesz. Children: Cinthia Friesz and special friend, Bob Perman, of Aberdeen, SD, Warren Jr. (Julie) Friesz of Chamberlain, SD, Harlan (Shana) Friesz of Mobridge, SD.
