Funeral services for Georgia Berndt, age 76, of Eagle Butte will be at 2 PM, MT, Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the UCC Church in Eagle Butte. Burial will be in the Berndt Family Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Georgia passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the North Platte Care Center in North Platte, NE.

Georgia Ann Ralston Berndt (Porge) was born north of Eagle Butte to Cliff and Sylvia Hinzman Ralston on July 19, 1937. She attended Eagle Butte Public School until the 9th grade. She married Harry (Reese) Baker when she was 15 and they made a home in Butte Montana.

In March of 1957 they adopted a little girl Julie Laree, a year later Georgia and Julie moved back to Eagle Butte. She married Ernest Ganje. Georgia was a waitress, cook and later went to work for Mary Zacher at the Vanity store. In 1962 she married Duane Smith and together they ran the Ben Franklin Store and the Old Gage Drugstore. In 1980 Georgia married the love of her life Earl (Bud) Berndt, and they lived north of Eagle Butte on Hwy 63. They raised a huge garden, and Georgia started canning, cooking and lots of baking.

Family was very important to Georgia and took care of both her parents until their passing. Porge's grandchildren were always spoiled and fussed over, and later her great grandchildren. They always knew grandma was a softie.

Georgia is survived by her daughter; Julie (Tim) Patch of North Platte, NE, granddaughter Jamie (Kevin) Warner of North Platte, ND, grandsons; Justin (DaLynn) of Fullerton ND, Travis (kim) of North Platte, ND, one God son John Hunt, seven great grandchildren; Shyanne, Brett, Krystyn, Tayvianna, Colby, Wyatt and Kaitlyn, numerous sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Cliff and Sylvia, husbands; Reese, Ernie and Bud, several brother-in-laws, and one sister-in-law.
