Fred "Fritz" Reiger, age 75, of Promise passed away Sunday, November 21, 2010 at his home in Promise. Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010 from 5:00 PM CST to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 6:00 PM CST at the Kesling Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM CST at St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery, under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home.
Fred (Fritz) Rieger was born February 18, 1935 in Mobridge, SD to Fredrick and Ida
( Huber ) Rieger, the 6th child of 10. He grew up in the Mobridge/Promise area, living here all of his life. He attended school in Mobridge through the 5th grade. After the death of his parents, he lived with his sister Dorothy Ducheneaux and her husband Ted at Promise, SD. He was in the National Guards in the early 50's. He spent most of his life on the Ducheneaux ranch at Promise, SD.
He loved to fish and he could do this from sun up to sun down no matter how many mosquitoes there were, but he wouldn't eat the fish. He also enjoyed hunting and watching westerns. His favorite food was chocolate and if you need a fix stop by and visit with Dorothy, he has plenty left. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends and will be missed by all.
Fritz is survived by his sisters; Dorothy Ducheneaux of Promise, Ione (Alvin) Allerdings of Mobridge, Louise (his twin) (Ray) Merkel of Glenham, Diane Reed of Thorton, Colorado, Victoria (Lester) Berreth of Shell Knob, Missouri and a brother Johnny (Georgia) Rieger of Van Nuys, California, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Billy, Jim and George and brothers-in-law; Ted Ducheneaux, Milo Schaible and Larry Reed.
Casketbearers will be KC Ducheneaux, Shane Mulloy, TC Mulloy, Jody Totten, Jason Hasper, Kim Hollenbeck, Dean Allerdings, Jim Larson.
