Obituary

Funeral services for Frank Fuhrer age 80 of Isabel will be 10:30 AM MDT Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Isabel Community Center. Interment will be in the Hillview Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be Wednesday July 26, 2017 beginning at 5:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Community Center in Isabel. Frank passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 at his home in Isabel, SD.

Frank Dean Fuhrer son of Albert and Emma (Korb) Fuhrer was born July 23, 1936 at Isabel.

He attended school in Isabel and worked for various people in the area before settling into ranching. After working for Ronnie and Dick Waddell for several years he started his own ranching operation. Frank also worked for the Dewey County Highway Dept. from 1972 to 2003. After his retirement he focused on his grandkids and his love of good Angus cattle.

He married the love of his life, Carol Chase on June 22, 1957 in Timber Lake. They made their home in and near Isabel. Carol passed away on January 6, 2010 and he continued to live the remainder of his life working hard on the ranch they built together.

Frank was very active in the community always willing to volunteer his time and help wherever he was needed. His main interest was in the Isabel Rodeo Association which honored him in 2016 as an Honoree. He was very proud to be recognized in this way.

Frank and Carol raised two children as well as two nieces. Leann was born Feb. 7, 1960, and Kevin was born Dec. 30, 1961. Sheila joined the family in 1971 at the age of 5. Sharon joined the family in 1974 at the age of 14.

He is survived by his children Leann (Phil Jr.) Lindskov of Mobridge, Kevin (Rhonda) Fuhrer of Belle Fourche, Sharon (Mark) Hartl of Spearfish, and Sheila Jones of Fort Pierre; grandchildren; Lance (Oscar) Lindskov, Gail (Kyle) Baumann, Morgan Fuhrer, Lan Fuhrer, Cody (Roxanne) Hartl, Kelli (Brian) Hartl, Tucker Jones and Tayler Jones; and great-grandchildren Chaseten Myers, Harper Baumann and Addison Hartl. He survived by one brother Raymond Fuhrer of Mobridge and two sisters, Martha Waddell of Mobridge, and Dora (Larry) Christensen of Gillette, WY; four sisters-in-law and 3 brothers-in-law, their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by, wife Carol, an infant son Jody in 1958, his parents, 3 brothers, Leonard, Gilbert, Floyd and one sister Helen Bertsch.
Memorials may be directed to the Isabel Rodeo Association, Isabel Senior Citizens Center or the Isabel UCC Church.
