Mass of Christian Burial for Francis Vogel, 64 of Timber Lake will be 2:00 PM Monday, November 11, 2019 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aberdeen. Wake service will be Sunday, November 10, 2019 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Timber Lake. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Francis passed Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at his home. Arrangements with Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge, SD.

Francis "Fran" Eugene Vogel, was born September 11, 1955 to Frederick and Neva (Gillespie) Vogel in Aberdeen, SD. He made his heavenly journey on November 6, 2019 surrounded by his family at his home in Timber Lake, SD.

Fran's education started in the Catholic schools in Aberdeen, he graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1972. He attended Jamestown College and Northern State University participating in cross country and track.

Fran married Kathy Wattier in Webster, SD and through this marriage Chad was born. Fran loved being a dad. His love for Chad grew stronger with each passing year.

In 1985, he met his soulmate, Sharon and her six children. They married on December 30, 1986. Matthew and Fredrick completed their blended family. For the past 33 years, Fran and Sharon dedicated themselves to their nine children. Fran and Sharon were blessed with the addition of grandsons Nicholas and Sam, whom they raised as their own.

In his 33 years as an educator, Fran worked primarily with native students and families. His career came to an end as the Dean of Students for the Tiospaye Topa School. He respected his fellow educators and wished our communities would understand how dedicated school staff are to helping students succeed.

He is survived by his loving wife Sharon, sons: Chad (Audra) Aberdeen, SD; Matthew (Kelsey); Fredrick (Lakota); Dewey (Fallon) all of Timber Lake, SD; Dugan (Peg) Dupree, SD; daughters: Dayle (Kristi) Albuquerque, NM; Dew (Ben) Aberdeen, SD and Sarah (Bud) Timber Lake, SD. His beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Brothers: Mike (Diane) MN, Bob (Tammy) IA; Greg (Kila) SD and Steve (Ronnie) TX; sisters: Barb SD, Mary (John) NE and Monica (Loren) MT.

Fran is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Neva Vogel and daughter Dawn Lynn Bad Warrior.
