Obituary

Mass of Christian Burial for Francine Kennedy, 66 of Eagle Butte, will be Friday, Feb. 17, 2012 at 10:00 AM MST at All Saints Catholic Church in Eagle Butte. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery in Whitehorse under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. All night wake Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012 begin at 7:00 PM at the church. Francine passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the IHS Hospital in Eagle Butte.

Francine Doreen (Miner) Kennedy - Wacante' Oganake Win (Having a good heart for everyone).

Francine was born July 8, 1945 at the Old Cheyenne Agency to William Miner, Sr. and Genevieve White Dog from White Horse, South Dakota. She grew up in White Horse and went to school there until the eighth grade and then she went to Cheyenne River Eagle Butte School and graduated in 1963. Shortly after graduating she met and married Rodney Thomas Kennedy at the White Horse Catholic Church in 1963 by Father Victor Perky.

Rodney and Francine made their home in Eagle Butte, SD. From this marriage they had five (5) children: Anthony (Carrie) of Eagle Butte, Michael (Pati) of Eagle Butte, Daniel of On The Tree, Jacqueline of On The Tree and David (Trisha) of Eagle Butte.

Francine had many individuals who called her mother and she acknowledges them as her own and they are as follows: Lona Tibbs, Chad Olson, Ashley Arpan, Colleen Talks, Mark Peacock, Anthony Aungie, Cynthia Cleveland, Mona Cudmore II, Steve Schweitzer, Mike Walters and Mike Lawrence.

Her adopted sisters were: Sharon Parker and Sharon Wright.

She loved the outdoors and traveling along with visiting friends and family. Most of her time she loved was with her grandchildren, Caleb, Sydney, Patrick, Jonathan, Kameron, Autumn, Noah, Riley, Rylan, Ashtyn, and one great-granddaughter Chloe. Francine had many children who also called her grandmother and auntie through her life.

Francine worked through out her life at various jobs, but worked for the education system from twenty seven (27) years before she retired in 1993.

She was a religious woman who prayed daily for her family and their well being. She always put others needs before hers. Most of her time was spent reminiscing about her family life growing up and the history of her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband Rodney; her mother Genevieve, her father William, Sr. three brothers; Vern, Nelson and Billy, along with four sisters, Geraldine, Elaine, Minerva and Fern.

She is survived by her five children, Anthony, Michael, Daniel, Jacqueline and David along with three sisters, Alma Dupris, Vallie LaPlante of Pierre, and Sharon Wright and one Aunt Dorothy (White Dog) Miner.

Casket Bearers will be Anthony Kennedy, Michael Kennedy, Daniel Kennedy, David Kennedy, Caleb Kennedy, Chad Olson, Any Dupris, Richard Mound, Kermit Miner

Sisters in Harmony will sing at the church.

Drum group; Ree Red Horse.
