Funeral services for Francine Hartley, 75, of Wakpala will be at 11 AM, Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge. Visitation will be from 9-11 AM Thursday. Franice passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021, in Sioux Falls. Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge is in charge of arrangements.

Francine was born on February 2, 1947 to Charles "Old Bob" and Ella Jane (Gabe) Baker in Wakpala, SD, one of 14 children. She attended schools in Wakpala, St. Joseph Indian School in Chamberlin, SD, Pierre Indian School in Pierre, SD and St. Elizabeth Indian Mission School in Wakpala. She met Eugene Ducheneaux and had a daughter, Delina Kay Baker (Marshall). Francine then married Panfilo Torres, Sr. and out of this union, 2 sons were born, Panfilo and Benjamin Torres in Oakland, CA. She met Joe Ramedes old Mexico and out of this union, Lonnie Carter was born. She then met and Claude Hartley. Out of this union Clayton and Cal Hartley were born. She attended school at Stewers School of Hairstyling in Aberdeen and graduated. Her hobbies and things she enjoyed doing included sewing, beadwork, cutting hair and ceramic pottery. She also enjoyed Mexican music and loved to dance to it. She enjoyed life, laughing and telling jokes and making people laugh. In 1987 she donated a kidney to her sister, Annette R. Phillips. She lived in Oakland, CA, San Leandro, CA, Bakerfield, CA, Mexico City, Glynndale, CA, St. Francis, KS, Albany, NY, Beckley, WV, Mobridge, Aberdeen, Wakpala and Sioux Falls, SD.

She is survived by one daughter, Delina (Baker) Marshall of Kenel, SD; six sons, Panfilo Torres, JR., Benjamin Torres of Colton, CA, Lonnie Carter of Sioux Falls, Clayton Hartley of Sioux Falls, Cal Hartley of Colorado, Brandon Baker of Sioux Falls; 3 brothers, Tom Baker of Kenel, SD, Lyle Baker of Sioux Falls, Francis "Poncho" Baker of Belcourt, ND; one sister, Connie Yearsly of Utah.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters, Frank, Gabe, Leona Deucheneaux, Alvina Lends His Horse, Kathy LeBlanc, Robert C. Baker, Sr., Carol Bascue, Mary Jane Baker, Azalea White Horse, Charles C. Baker and Pat Baker Sr.
