Funeral services for Francine Crow Ghost 77 of Bullhead, SD will be 11:00 a.m., Friday May 6, 2016 at the Rock Creek School Gym in Bullhead, SD. A wake service will begin Thursday evening at 6:00 PM at the Gym in Blue Gym in Bullhead. Burial will be in the St. John's Episcopal Cemetery in Bullhead under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. The family will leave 5:00 PM Thursday to process to Bullhead. Mrs. Crowe Ghost passed away April 26, 2016 at the Mobridge Golden Living Center in Mobridge, South Dakota.
Francine Ardell Crow Ghost was born November 27, 1938 in rural bullhead to James and Adelia (White Paw) Crow Ghost. She grew up in the Bullhead area and attended grade school in Bullhead, Ft. Yates, and Wakpala and then graduated from Ft. Yates High School in 1956. After graduation she attended Haskell College at Lawrence Kansas for 1 year. She also attended a teachers program for two years at Grand Forks University.
Francine married Richard Luke Yellow Earrings in 1960. From this marriage 4 children were born. Carla, Richard Jr., Darla and Peter.
Throughout her life Francine worked for the tribe as a secretary for the Clerk of Courts, The Bullhead School as both a teacher and as a cook for head start. Later she had another son Nickolas Lynn Hollow. In later years she stayed home and raised her grandchildren together with her very special companion Matthew (Jug) Yellow Earrings.
Over the past three years her health had been failing and in 2015 she entered the Golden living Center in Mobridge where she was a resident at the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Luke Yellow Earrings, daughter Carla Bogola, her parents James and Ardelia (White Paw) Crow Ghost, sister Carolyn Crow Ghost, grandchildren Torrey James Rosebud, special nephew Joseph Crow Ghost and grandparents Francis and Jane White Paw.
She is survived by her children Richard (Denise) Crow Ghost of Cherry Creek, SD, Darla (Leo) Rosebud of Bullhead, SD, Peter (Alvette) Yellow Earrings of Bullhead, SD, and Nickolas Hollow of Bullhead, SD. Grandchildren Angel Fast Wolf and Shade Crow Ghost. Sisters Iyonne (Andrew) Bear Ribs, Jerrilyn (Courtney) Brown Otter, Rose Mary Crow Ghost, Renae Crow Ghost and her brother Errol (Koty) Crow Ghost. Along with several nieces nephews and grandchildren.
Casketbearers will be Doug, Mario, David, Harold, Francis and Casey Crow Ghost, Randy Bear Ribs, Patrick Yellow Earrings, Carlos Red Bear and Jody Red Bird.
Honorary Casketbearers will be the Members of the Council on Aging: Shirley Marvin, Charmayne Eagleman, Virginia Walking Bull, Blanche Lawrence, Mary Louise Wilson, Patricia Kelly, and Helen Hanley. Also Gladys Hawk, Alvina Elk Nation, and family, Helen Elkire and Kellissa (Maurice) Agard.
