Obituary

Mass of Christian Burial for Frances Kramer, age 90, of Mobridge and formerly of McLaughlin will be at 10 AM MT, Monday, July 25, 2011 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in McLaughlin. Burial will be in the McLaughlin City Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be start at 5 PM MT, Sunday at the church with a prayer service at 7 PM MT. Frances passed away peacefully Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Mobridge.


Frances Elizabeth Kramer was born on October 3, 1920 in Hague, ND, to Philip and Odellia (Volk) Lipp. During her childhood her family moved to the Wakpala area. Frances married John Max Kramer on June 21, 1943 in Wakpala. They made their home on a farm 14 miles east of McLaughlin. In 1965 they moved into McLaughlin. John passed away on Sept. 16, 1982. Frances continued living in McLaughlin until 2008 when she moved into the Prairie Sunset Village in Mobridge.


Frances was a devoted member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church. She was very active in church activities and Altar Society. She attended daily Mass from the time she moved into McLaughlin until the time she moved to Mobridge. She was also active in the Senior Citizens Center, the Jolly Ranchettes, bridge club and with bowling. She even bowled a 298 game. She was known for her crocheting and knitting, making dish clothes, rugs and doilies. All her children and grandchildren have rugs made by grandma. Frances was very devoted to her children and her grandchildren.


Frances is survived by her children, David (Margaret) Kramer of Maple Grove, MN, Janet (Gary) Rau of McLaughlin, Marjorie (Paul) Keller of Mobridge, Barbara Ann Olson of Hartford, SD, Mary Jane (Rich) Grebel of Brookings, Josephine (Rick) DuFloth of McLaughlin, Elizabeth "Eiddy" Lindeman of Johnstown, CO, Bernadette "Bunny" (Christopher) Williams of Belle Fourche, SD, William "Bill" (Susan) Kramer of Gillette, WY, Michael "Mickey" Kramer of Rapid City; 35 grandchildren, 55 Great Grandchildren, two sisters, Tillie (Orlando) Van Orman of Rockledge, FL and Lorrena "Girlie" (LeRoy) Schweitzer of Monteno, IL; sister-in-law, Carol Lipp of Timber Lake, Karen of Colorado, and Geneal Lipp of Spearfish.


She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, John Max, brothers, Joe, Bill, Leo, Dan and Wilfred "Fritz" Lipp, sister, Betty Thomas, three grandchildren, and three sons-in-law, Lowell Olson, Steve Lindeman and Dale Scott.

Casketbearers will be all of Frances Grandchildren.

Honorary bearers will be Frances family and friends.

Janice Kraft will be playing the organ.

Fr. Ron Garry will sing "Ave Maria" accompanied by Patty Schmeichel.

David, Bill and Michael Kramer will be singing "Prayer of St. Francis".

Congregational hymns will be "What A Friend We Have In Jesus", "Amazing Grace", "Song Of Farewell", "On Eagle's Wings".

Ushers will be Nephews, Bob, Tom, Joe and Don Kramer.
