Funeral services for Fern Goetz, 88, of Mobridge will be at 10 AM, Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mobridge. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 5 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM Friday at the funeral home. Fern passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at the Walworth County Care Center in Selby.

Fern Alice (Dearborn) Goetz was born February 29th, 1932 (leap year baby) in Isabel, SD to Arthur & Julia (Donner) Dearborn. Fern grew up in Isabel where she attended school and met her husband to be, Marvin Goetz. Fern & Marvin were married October 13th, 1949 in Isabel, SD. To this union 6 children were born; Barbara, Kathy, LeRoy, Rocky, Jody, and Robin. Married life took Fern & Marvin to Idaho for a short time. But SD was home and most of their family was there, so they returned to spend the remainder of their lives in Mobridge. Fern was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She loved and enjoyed spending time with her family. She also loved people, relatives, friends or someone new, Fern was never in a hurry and had time for everyone. She was well known for her selfless time she spent volunteering at the Mobridge Care Center visiting with the patients, helping with organized events, or just sharing her infectious smile to brighten the residents and employee's day. Fern had a passion for plants and flowers and was a member of the Mobridge Flower Club where she enjoyed spending time with other plant enthusiasts. Fern volunteered at the local florist shop delivering flowers on the busy holidays to help a friend and to share in the joy that flowers bring to people. Fern loved her Lord and was a devoted member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and also a member of the Ladies Aide.

Fern is survived by 4 Children: Barbara (Ray) Jung of Rapid City SD, Kathy (Ken) Walker of Selby SD, Jody (Tracy) Goetz of Mobridge SD and Robin (Roy) O'Day of Santa Fe NM. 11 Grandchildren : Marty, Michael, Angela Jung and Stephanie Curtis, Jason, Shane and Grant Walker, Jamie Fees, Jennifer West, Tyrell and Jade O'Day. 18 Great Grandchildren: Cody, Gabbryel, Alexandriana, Wheeler, Colton and Jaxon Jung, Rocky and Sadi Curtis, Trey, Kaylee, Tristan, Brooks and Reese Walker, Kierra and Trenton Veenhof, Natalie and Noah West, Ashlyn Fees. Sister : Betty Lindskov.

Fern was preceded in death by her Parents: Arthur & Julia Dearborn, Husband: Marvin Goetz, Sons: LeRoy & Rocky Goetz, Grandson: Eric O'Day, Sisters: Mildred Donbraska, Ethel Clifton, and Dolly Fleming.
