Obituary

Mass of Christian Burial for Eugene (Gene) Kosters, age 73 of Tooele, Utah and formerly of Selby will be Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010 at 2:00 PM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Selby. Fr. Thomas Clement officiating. Burial will be in the Selby Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be Tuesday one hour prior to services. Mr. Kosters passed away Sept. 2, 2010 in Tooele.

Eugene Frances Kosters was born June 16, 1937 to Henry and Mary E. (Horvath) Kosters on the family farm south of Selby, SD. Gene graduated from Selby High School and attended college at Dakota State University at Madison.

Gene worked with his hands and heavy equipment on road construction,
the Alaska pipe line, to mining uranium and gold. He retired from Barrick Gold of North America in 1997 where he held a management position. Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the mountains--especially South Dakota's Black Hills and was an expert trap shooter being recognized at one point among the top 100 trap shooters in the US.

Gene was an active member of the Elks, Eagles, and Loyal Order Of The Moose. Gene's efforts in these benevolent organizations focused on the well being of children. He cared very deeply for all children and generously supported efforts to assist children.

Eugene is survived by his wife Ruth Sharon Kosters, daughter Marissa M.
Kosters Benson, grandchildren Morgan M., Heidie G. and Diego D. all of Tooele, Utah, brothers, Henry (Ruby) Kosters, Pierre, SD: Morris (Janice) Kosters, Rapid City, SD and Edward (Kay Deceased) Kosters, sisters Betty (Jerry), Mitchell, SD:
and Carol (Darreld) Badure, Mobridge, SD. Also many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Eugene was preceded in death by his father Henry Kosters and mother Mary E. Kosters.
