Obituary

Funeral services for EuGene Huft, age 81, of Mobridge and formerly of Isabel will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, September 12, 2011 at the UCC Church in Mobridge. Burial will be in Hillsview Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be at 3 PM Sunday at the funeral home with a prayer service at 7 PM. EuGene passed away Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.

EuGene Alfred Huft was born on October 18, 1929 in Roscoe, SD to Jacob and Margaret (Dabbert) Huft. He grew up in the Roscoe and Ipswich area before moving west to the Mobridge area where he atteneded school. He worked for various ranchers in the area. He also worked at the shipyards in Washington and at the Homestake gold mine in Lead. Following that Eugene ranched along the Cheyenne River.

On September 27, 1953 he married Elvina Boysen in Firesteel. In May of 1954 they moved northwest of Isabel where they raised their family and worked together ranching. He loved the ranch life and being around the cattle and horses. He looked forward to seeing the green grass every year. EuGene was a brand inspector for a number of years and also sold Standard Feed. They moved to Mobridge in 2002 where he remained until the time of his death. While in Mobridge Eugene became an avid woodworker in his shop.

EuGene is survived by 2 sons, Wes (Diane) Huft of Spearfish, SD and Roy (Debbie) Huft of Ismay, MT, two daughters; Robin Ward (Ron Gray) of Rifle, CO, and Donna (William) Pisel of Deer Trail, CO, 15 grandchildren; Leann (Steve) Chavez, Ryan and Laura Huft, Robert Ward, James "J.D." Ward, Cody (Amanda) Ward, Renee Ward, Beau (Hope) Huft, Philip (Andrea) Huft, Bryce Huft, Tyrel Huft, Clint Pisel, J.T. Pisel, Caleb Mock and Shania Mock; 8 great grandchildren, Tucker, Hayden, Connor, Adalyn and Joliya Ward, Tylee Huft, Cade Huft and Drew Chavez; and one sister, Elitda Cabana of Kenosha, WI.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother Harold. His wife Elvina in 2007, one son Bentley Jay Huft
