Funeral services for Esther Helen Goetz, 85 of Selby SD will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at St. John Lutheran Church in Selby. Interment will be at 3:00 PM CST in the Hillview Cemetery in Isabel, under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 26, 2019 beginning at 5:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Kesling Funeral Home. Esther passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Bowdle Health Care Center in Bowdle, SD.

Esther Helen Fritz was born June 6, 1934 to Jacob and Maria (Huber) Fritz, near Isabel on her parent's farm. She grew up in Isabel and attended school there. During her teenage years she worked for the Carter family in Isabel.

On July 4, 1952, Esther married Richard Goetz at Isabel. They made their home on a ranch south of Isabel where they started their family. In 1966 they sold the ranch and bought the John Himrich farm 2 miles east of Selby. Esther was very proud of the sheep she raised while on the farm and ranch. In 1991 she moved into Selby where she resided until becoming a resident of the Walworth County Care Center in 2016. While living in Selby she worked at Fillers Bakery, Shorty's Truck Stop, and Red Barn Meat Market. Esther also worked at BHSU in Spearfish for a short time.

Esther was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Selby. She was active in the church women's circle and enjoyed being on the flower committee; especially the gathering of poinsettias at Christmas for the church. She also was a member of Royal Neighbors.

Esther is survived by daughters Leta (Allen) Angrimson, of Montevideo, MN, Ivy (Stan) Allard of Rapid City, Patty (Kelly) Taft of Spearfish, Joy (John) Flanagan, of Minot, ND, sons Max Goetz of Selby, Ivan (Shelly) Goetz of Spearfish, Richard (Brenda) Goetz, of Spearfish, one brother, Daryld Fritz of Hot Springs, one sister, Mary Ann Derby of Sturgis, SD, 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard in 1988, daughter June Lynne in 2017, granddaughter Amy in 1992, and four brothers and three sisters.
