A memorial service for Erhart Rohrbach, 90, of Mobridge, SD, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at the Kesling Funeral Chapel of Mobridge. A private family burial will take place at the Greenwood Cemetery of Mobridge under the direction of the Kesling Funeral Home. Erhart passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015, at the Selby Good Samaritan Center.
He was born on March 14, 1925, at the family home near Roscoe, SD, to John and Katharina (Huft) Rohrbach, and grew up on the family farm.
Erhart was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on July 20, 1941. Through all these years he lived up to his dedication to Jehovah and was eager to share the good news from the Bible with everyone he could.
Erhart and Darlene (Kanne) Rohrbach were married on January 3, 1952, and got to enjoy 63 good years working together.
In 1966, while living in Aberdeen, SD, they volunteered to move to Mobridge to help a small congregation, which became their home and their special family.
Erhart earned a reputation for his hard work and willingness to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed a variety of different jobs throughout the years including farming, construction, and janitorial/apartment maintenance. He was willing to do whatever it took to pay the family bills and continue with the Mobridge congregation.
Erhart appreciated his privilege as an elder in the congregation and enjoyed attending many seminars. He and Darlene got to do a lot of traveling. They made three trips to New York to attend conventions, as well as Canada and many other locations.
Erhart and Darlene earned a good reputation for their kind hospitality, whether it was sharing meals with friends or an overnight stay or many weeks of sharing.
Erhart endured many serious health issues, including two bouts of cancer and a disabling stroke in 2000. His strong faith in the Bible, which promises an end to sickness, pain and death, helped him endure. Rev 21:4
Erhart is survived by his wife, Darlene Rohrbach; his brothers, Ruben Rohrbach and Milbert (Sharon) Rohrbach; his sister, Mavis (Irvin) Putzier; his brother-in-law, Donald (Virginia) Kanne; sister-in-law, Ruby (James) Eastman and Helga Rohrbach; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Raymond Rohrbach; his sister-in-law, Lorraine Rohrbach; as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.
