Funeral services for Emma Berndt age 96 of Herreid, will be at 11 AM, Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the Assembly of God Church in Herreid. Burial will be at a later date at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Emma passed away Sunday, February 24, 2019 at the Linton Hospital in Linton, ND.

Emma Berndt was born February 7, 1923 to Christina (Vilhauer) and August Renz, Sr. She married Harold Berndt on December 26, 1942. Harold and Emma made their home on a farm 9 ½ miles south east of Herreid. They farmed and raised their family. They moved into Herreid in 1997. Emma was a member of the Baptist church and also a member of the Senior Citizens.

Emma is survived by one son, Duwane and Betty Berndt of Herreid, one daughter, Darlene Bates of Herreid, four grandchildren, Tam (Al) Hurley, Mark (Trista) Bates, Missy Stover, and Randy Berndt, five great-grandchildren, Conner, Rilyn and Payton Bates, Austin and Justin Stover.

Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, siblings, Phillip Renz, August Renz Jr., Reuben Renz, Leonora Rau, Lizzie Quenzer, and son-in-law, Dennis Bates.
