Elvera Esther Ford Seibel was born in Herreid, SD to Eugene and Emma Riesche Ford on October 17, 1931. She attended grade school at a rural country school.
On April 14, 1957, she married Elmer Seibel. They rented a farm outside of Herreid, where they made their home. They lived on several farms in the Herreid-Mound City area where they farmed, raised cattle and milked cows. Together they had five children. After her children went to college, she did after school childcare. Elvera worked for Senftner Chevrolet from 1984 to 1994.
Elvera was a loving mother and grandmother. Her children were always her first priority. She was at all of their activities. Even though she didn't have a lot to offer financially, they never lacked for anything. Her greatest success was sending all five of her children to four year colleges. She took great joy in their accomplishments and those of her grandchildren. She taught them to work hard to achieve their dreams. She loved to spend time with her family. She enjoyed riding bike, swimming, and playing cards, especially with her grandchildren.
Elvera was a life long member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mound City. She loved music and had a strong faith in the Lord.
