Memorial services for Elva Aman - Baumann 88 of Selby, SD will be 11:00 AM Saturday January 31, 2015 at St. Johns Lutheran Church. Inurnment will be in the Selby Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Prayer service will 7:00PM Friday, January 30, 2015 at the church. Elva passed away January 23, 2015 at the Selby Good Samaritan Center in Selby.
Elva (Rossow) Aman-Baumann was born on July 3, 1926 to Alfred and Bertha (Bogenhagen) Rossow in rural Herreid, SD. She attended grade school in Campbell County and attended high school graduating from Herreid High School. After high school, Elva taught country school for three years.
In 1946 Elva married Herbert Aman, this union was blessed with three daughters; Deanna Mauck, Patsy Visto and Sonja Huber.
Elva was employed at the Walworth County Courthouse for many years. She worked in the Extension Office for seven years and then deputy Register of Deeds. She later became Register of Deeds and held that position for sixteen years. Elva retired in January of 1991.
Elva was a member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Red Hatters. Before entering the nursing home Elva enjoyed playing cards and having coffee with friends. She enjoyed going to any school events, especially if her grandchildren were involved.
Elva married Floyd E. Baumann on March 3, 1995 in Green Valley, AZ. Floyd and Elva were snowbirds in AZ for twelve Years. They spent the rest of their time in Selby, SD. In January, 2013 Elva and Floyd entered the Good Samaritan Center
Elva is survived by daughter; Patsy (Emery) Visto, Oakes, ND, step children; Kathy Baumann, Oakes, ND, Diane (Curt) Rawstern, Selby, SD, and Roger (Patti) Baumann, Selby, SD, ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, special nieces and nephews, 2 son-in-laws Chuck Mauck, Aberdeen, SD and Tim Huber, Lowry, SD.
Elva was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Aman, husband Floyd E. Baumann, daughters; Sonja Huber and Deanna Mauck, step-son; Floyd W. Baumann, grandson; Jeffrey Visto, a step-grandson, and two step-great-grandchildren, her parents, and sisters, Alice Young, Irene Bickel and brother Marvin Rossow.
