Obituary

Memorial services for Elsie Myers, age 83 of Mobridge will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobridge. Inurnment will be 12:30 PM MT Thursday at Black HillsNationalCemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home. Memorial visitation will start at 2 PM Tuesday with a prayer service at 7 PM at the funeral home. Elsie passed away, Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the GoldenLivingCenter in Mobridge.

Elsie Lydia Weiszhaar was born on August 2, 1930 at Bowdle to Christ and Lydia (Walther) Weiszhaar. She attended SelbySchool. On November 14, 1948 she married Dewane Kasch and to this union four girls were born, Sandy, Peggy, Jody and Nancy. Dewane and Elsie purchased the Mobil Station and Café in Selby from Emil Kost in 1964, where Elsie ran the 24 hour Café and was bookkeeper for the station. Dewane passed away on May 31, 1974, following his death Elsie operated the business until August 1, 1974 when it was sold.

Elsie married Merle Myers on October 11, 1981 at St. JohnLutheranChurch in Selby. They made their home in Milbank where they operated the VFW. In 1987 they moved to Mobridge where they have since resided. While in Mobridge Elsie worked at the MobridgeRegionalHospital as a dietary aid and then as custodian at Trinity Lutheran Church before her retirement.

In April of 2012 Elsie entered the MobridgeGoldenLivingCenter. While there she enjoyed playing bingo, popcorn socials, their music programs and going on outings with her family. Elsie was known as a very nice lady and was always ready with a smile.

Elsie was a member of the TrinityLutheranChurch and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, making afghans for her grandchildren, collecting angels, going fishing and attending her grandchildren's activities.

Elsie is survived by her husband, Merle of Mobridge; four daughters, Sandy (Ron) Mitzel of Aurora, NE, Peggy Wendt of Glenham, Jody (Don) Parsons of Britton, SD, and Nancy (John) Haefner of Mound City; eight grandchildren, 5 great granddaughters, and one sister-in-law, Doris Weiszhaar of Mobridge.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dewane, son-in-law, Richard Wendt, two sisters, four brothers, and two brothers-in-law.

Urn bearers are Mark Wendt, Darin Wendt, Amanda Wendt, Steph Thompson, Nicole Peterson, Levi Haefner, Dustin Haefner and Raquel Schlomer.

Honorary bearers are Elsie's great grandchildren, Sophia, Prairie, Lydia, Keira and Reagan, the staff at the GoldenLivingCenter, Doris Weiszhaar, Annie Vermillion, and Lila Knittel.
