Elizabeth G. Cheskey age 93 of Selby passed away Thursday January 8, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Selby. Arrangements are with Kesling Funeral Home. As per Elizabeth's wishes there will be no services.
Elizabeth G. Cheskey was born October 8, 1921 to Joseph F. and Christina (Kesler) Groz at her parents farm near Hague, ND. She attended rural school near her home until the 8th grade. Following her education she continued to live in Hague, ND, where she worked in the mercantile store until 1943 when she moved to Southern California where she worked as a Governess Chauffeur, and nurse maid, hostess and cashier.
On February 17, 1946 she married Charles G. Goresline. They made their home in Tujunga, California. She attended San Fernando College for 1 year and studied art. Charles passed away January 1, 1974, following his death she continued to live in Tujunga. In September 12, 1977 she married Cameran Cheskey in Tujunga and later moved to Glenham, SD. In February 1984 Cameran passed away and Elizabeth made her home in Mobridge until entering the Good Samaritan Center in July 2014.
While living in Mobridge and Glenham she worked for the Wheel Restaurant. Elizabeth enjoyed fishing and has received many proud angler recognitions.
Elizabeth is survived by step sons; Robert Cheskey of Denver, CO, James Cheskey and Bill Cheskey both of Sioux Falls, SD. one step-daughter; Sandra of Sioux Falls, 9 sisters; Magdalena Weinzril, Mary Ford, Josephine Holder, Jenny Hahne all of Selby, Gladys Dyson of Madesto, CA, Eva Opheim of Parker, CO, Cecilia Engelhoupt, of St. Paul, MN, Dianna Volk of Linton, ND., brother; Aloys Groz of Shakapee, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and three brothers; Leo Groz, Frances Groz, Bendict Groz, sister; Theresa Dietz.
