Funeral services for Edward Shillingstad, 78, of Mobridge, SD, will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at the Kesling Funeral Chapel of Mobridge, SD. Burial is at Greenwood cemetery under the direction of the Kesling Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Kesling Funeral Chapel. Edward passed away on Friday, May 8, 2015, at Golden Living Care Center of Mobridge.
Edward Martin Shillingstad was born June 3, 1936 to Perry and Agnes (Vereide) Shillingstad on the farmstead in Campbell County.
Ed went to school in Campbell County until the 8th grade. He enlisted in the army and served.
On April 11, 1964 he married Phyllis Walther, from this union 3 children were born: Wendy, Kim and Jason.
He held various jobs, painting was his primary work.
He entered Golden Living Center in February 2005, where he resided until his death.
He is survived by his children, Wendy (Deb) Lawrence of White Horse, SD; Kim (John) Villbrandt of Mobridge, SD; Jason (Meagan) Shillingstad of Bismarck, ND. Grandchildren: Jordan (Just) Fiddler, Jayce and Jett of White Horse, SD; Callie Lawrence of White Horse, SD; Joshua (Beth) Villbrandt. Kia of Mandan, ND; Trace & Tyler Villbrandt of Mobridge; Quinn Shillingstad of Bismarck, ND. 2 brothers Warren of Mobridge and Dean (Phyllis) of Selby, SD. 1 sister Caroline Grad of Kent, WA.
He is preceded in death by his parents Perry and Agnes, 7 brothers, Glen, Norman, Roy, Lavern, Harold, Lawrence and Lee. 4 sisters, Ramona Byington, Mae Schilling, Agnes Hight and Vivian Battest.
